The California Foundation for Gifted Education is pleased to announce
the Jeanne Delp Memorial Grants


History:
Jeanne Delp was a remarkable educator who made a difference in the lives of children and adults throughout her long career.  Jeanne was instrumental in statewide efforts to make parents truly equal partners in the education of gifted and talented young learners.
 
Award:
These $250 grants given by California Foundation for Gifted Education will facilitate a project designed to promote the active involvement or education of the parents of a classroom of gifted youngsters. These grants will be awarded for a project that other funds do not or cannot finance.  The objective of the grant is to provide funding for a project that would otherwise not be possible as the teacher works to include parents to help secure the success of the GATE students. 

Mail completed application by March 31, 2010. Awards will be announced in April.

The California Foundation for Gifted Education is pleased to announce
the GATE Classroom Grants.


Award:
These grants will facilitate a project designed to enhance GATE instruction in the classroom.  These grants will be awarded for a project that other funds do not or cannot finance. The objective of the grant is to provide funding for a project that would otherwise not be possible. Grants will be awarded in October and March.

Eligibility:
Educators who apply for the grant must be GATE certified.

Mail completed application by March 31, 2010. Awards will be announced in April.

May V. Seagoe Memorial Scholarship


The May V. Seagoe Memorial Scholarship is a grant given by the California Foundation for Gifted Education to educators and is intended to:

• foster excellence within gifted education
• encourage commitment to serve gifted students
• promote an understanding of giftedness through research

A $1000 grant is awarded to finance advanced education or a research project in gifted education. Mail completed application by December 1. Awards will be announced by mid- February.

CAG Award of Recognition/Award of Achievement


A CAG Award of Recognition is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to gifted education as a teacher, parent, legislator, national leader, or in any other capacity.

A CAG Award of Achievement is presented to individuals who have continually supported the organization and principles of gifted education. This allows CAG to honor sustained efforts on behalf of gifted students by a person who may have received an award in the past. The deadline to submit this nomination form is December 1st.

Ruth Martinson Award

Past Presidents of California Association for the Gifted may nominate individuals for this award which is given for a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the area of gifted/talented education. This contribution is one that either reconceptualizes existing knowledge and/or generates new knowledge in the field.

The contribution must have national recognition and/or worked in California at some time during his/her career. Individuals who are considered for this award can be those who have been authors, researchers, lecturers, or consultants.


CAG Distinguished Service Award


 

CAG began a new tradition in 2003 by honoring one member of the GATE community in each region for outstanding contributions to the interests of gifted and talented children. These honorees are recognized and celebrated within their region and receive a complimentary CAG membership. You can participate by nominating a parent, teacher, administrator, counselor, psychologist or community member for consideration. Note that the nominee must be a California resident.

Each year selections will be based upon the following criteria:

• Demonstrated excellence that benefits gifted and talented students
• Proven commitment to gifted children
• Advocacy for the gifted and talented
• Service to CAG and other organizations for gifted learners

Nominations must be postmarked on or before October 15th.
