THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Thanks to the concerted efforts of gifted education advocates -- especially in Wisconsin and Connecticut -- the House Appropriations Committee restored fiscal year 2010 funding for the Javits program in legislation it approved on July 17.

Committee chairman David Obey (WI-7) included $7.46 million in the "manager's amendment" during the committee mark-up process. This is the same amount the program received in 2009. Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) made a special plea with the chairman, for which we are grateful.

The battle isn't over yet. We'll soon focus our attention on the Senate appropriations subcommittee that handles education funding. Please keep checking the legislative update page for further information or sign up for NAGC's Legislative Action Network to receive email updates and requests for further advocacy action.
